Sorry that it's been two months since a blog update. A lot has happened. We moved - so we're in the Atlanta area now. Just getting our bearings again, and then we'll be able to go through the last couple months of photos and give a grand update soon.

Until then, there's this.

Kaylee received a special Christmas gift today from Aunt Courtney and Uncle Chris (we did too! Thank you!). She spent the morning watching Tangled, playing with a new Rapunzel doll, while dressed up as Rapunzel. She also got a nice big monkey which she has christened Coco. :)

Kaylee, the Junior Forest Ranger

The other day, Kaylee received a Fedex package from Grandmother. Daddy helped her sign for it, and when they opened it, there was an adorable fishing/hunting/safari vest and sunhat.

She put it right on immediately and kept it on all day and all evening, until we took it off at bedtime. This happens about every other day - she loves to dress up and takes turns between Princess, Forest Ranger, Mickey, Kitty, and Nemo. :)

Gabba Halloween!

Kaylee's favorite show right now is Yo Gabba Gabba (Nickelodeon). They have a Halloween episode, and she's been watching it about 3-4 times per day for the last couple weeks, while she got more and more excited about Halloween.

They just published a Halloween greeting on their Facebook wall. :) So Happy Gabbaween!

Tonight we decorated the back of the Rav, got all dressed up in costumes, and attended Trunk-or-Treat at the Limestone School... It was a lot of fun and so cute to see Kaylee so excited! Ian took her around while I passed out candy, and apparently she didn't want to leave the haunted house float. I took a quick little break and my friend Kelly handed out candy for a few minutes and when I found Kaylee and Ian, she was dancing to "Thriller" playing at a really creepily decorated trunk - one of their Jack-O-Lanterns was even blinking its lights in time to the music. :)

Kaylee's favorite book at the moment is "Goodnight, Moon." She has heard it read to her so many times that she has it pretty well memorized. She loves to drag one of us to the couch to read it to her, and then immediately after, she wants to "read" it to us.

Enjoy Kaylee's rendition. Maybe I can add subtitles someday, but she's fairly clear. :)

What a busy summer we've had! Since our last post, we went to the Presque Isle Fair, did lots of fun stuff at home, went to King's Landing, went to the Balloon Festival in Presque Isle, played with our kitties that we adopted this spring, had a birthday, made cupcakes, and played Princess dress-up a LOT. We also took a trip to the Covered Bridge Potato Chip factory in Hartland to see how chips are made, and went to the Hunter Brother's Farm in Florenceville for an afternoon of playing and fun and going through their corn maze.

In between all that also came a couple canoe trips, lots of trips to the "Dragon Park" (Caribou), and the "Downtown Park" (Limestone), and lots of other parks along the way. We've read lots of library books, gone shopping, spent time with Nana and Papa, Grammie and Grampy, Uncle Jeremy and Auntie Kelly, Pam and Paul, and we even got to hang out with Hailey and play with Rhianna! We also talked to Uncle Chris and Aunt Courtney on Skype. It's been fun.

Kaylee talks all the time now, repeats everything on TV or that we say, sings a lot of songs she's heard on her favorite shows, tells us what she wants to eat, watch, or play with, and she's gone into size 3 clothes and size 8 shoes! What a big girl!

Going to the Fair - we went through a children's agricultural exhibit where kids learn where their food comes from, had fair food, rode the rides, and watched karaoke and a demolition derby. We also saw lots of animals that day as well as local handicrafts and businesses' exhibits. One of the best parts of the day was the lemonade from the lemonade stand: fresh-squeezed, ice cold, sugary deliciousness! Kaylee loved the whole day and we had lots of fun hanging out as a family.

In August, our friends came up for their vacation and Kaylee and Mommy met up with them at King's Landing, a historical settlement village along the Saint John River just north of Fredericton, NB. We enjoyed an afternoon touring around and looking at the way we used to do things, enjoying some time visiting together, and even had some homemade ice cream!

It was a truly remarkable day!

A few months ago we mentioned that we got some new kitties after being without kitties for almost a year. They were only 8 months old when we got them, they are just over a year now and have grown so much! Here are a couple pics of Kaylee's kitties... the spelling of their names was Daddy's idea. :) To match Kaylee's name, of course.

The following pictures are of Kaylee around her birthday. She was excited to be turning 3! The whole princess thing is just a little joke for us - we don't literally spoil her and treat her like a princess. It was just that when we put the princess gear on her, her entire demeanor changed - even her walk - and she *had to* get to the full length mirror and check it out. She was in awe and kept smiling at herself and it was pretty hilarious. She asks to put her princess stuff on every other day for an hour or so. :) She's such a cutie.

Another day of Princess Training:

Our trip to the Covered Bridge Potato Chip Factory! We met up with cousin Erica and Jon, and friends Christine, Tony, and Hailey to go tour the chip factory and gift shop. It was very interesting learning about all the local brands from the past, seeing the advertising and product wrapping samples, and seeing the chips being made from start to finish in small batches. It was great to taste the chips fresh from the factory line - but even better to share it with friends and family!

After the chip factory, we all went our separate ways for lunch and then met up again at Hunter Brother's farm in Florenceville. They had a TON of stuff for kids (and grownups!) to enjoy! What a great afternoon we had, we must make it an annual trip!

With these pictures, we are caught up for another little bit. We've had some beautiful weather during September and hope for a few more nice days in October as well. The leaves are turning and it's absolutely beautiful in Northern Maine. We hope you are having a beautiful autumn also, and we'll udpate again soon. Canoe Trip!

Two weekends ago, we went on a little canoe trip from Plaster Rock down to a friend's "beach". It was about a 4 mile run and took about 2 hours, not including our picnic lunch stop. It was Kaylee's first time in our wonderful Old Town canoe that was a very nice gift from a friend... (It was Ian's first trip in this canoe, also). We had a wonderful time with the Ouellette's!

FINALLY it's summer!!!

We have had a long wet spring and it rained most of the months of May and June. Kaylee loved splashing in the puddles and playing in the mud.

In mid-April we went to the FredKids Fair in Fredericton. They had a lot of booths set up for parents to buy goods for children, from accessories to learning tools. There were also a lot of informational booths and promotions going on, but best of all, there were a ton of kids activities set up. Kaylee got to hang out with her friend Hailey and play at the fair. There was even a beach set up at one end of the coliseum. In all, it was a nice day to get out.

These next couple need a little explaining. We have an upright freezer in the dining room. We recently acquired some new pet kitties (which you'll see soon). One of the kitties loves to lie on the top of the freezer and look out the window all day. Since Kaylee saw the kitty climb up there, she had been a little obsessed with getting up there herself and we were constantly getting her down off the chairs. Anyhow, I turned my head for about 30 seconds one day and she had climbed up and decided to see what was up there. I store extra boxes of pasta noodles up there, and she had ripped into a box of bowtie pasta and was trying to eat it uncooked. What a silly doodle.

Speaking of new kitties, here they are. They love

to nap together on Kaylee's changing pad on the

dresser in her room. We named them Sandee and

Icee - spelling by Ian, to match Kaylee. :)

We spend a LOT of time at the park. Kaylee loves the park, any park, and asks daily, multiple times a day, to "go park", even if we've already been to two parks. (Yes, we have been to three parks in one day before). One of her favorite parks is the "Dragon Park" in Caribou. We also have a really nice park in Limestone, and we know where the parks are in every town in the county, just about.

Kaylee has started this other behavior that, while is a bit amusing, is also annoying and time-consuming at the same time. She actually started it during our road trip to FL this past winter. If we got her out of the car and she hadn't been out of the car seat long enough, it was a wrestling match to get her back in. Now she just thinks it's funny and wants to play in the car a bit here and there. This is what it looks like:

One more adventure we recently had that we wanted to share with you: baking. :) Kaylee has long been interested in the goings-on in the kitchen. She loves to play in the tupperware cupboard, help unload the dishwasher, play in the sink, and see what's cooking on top of the stove (which we securely hold her in our arms to do!). Last week, Kaylee and I made a sunflower cake and some mini chocolate cupcakes. She is terrified of the Kitchenaid Mixer, but she liked putting the cups in the muffin tins as well as helping me put the ingredients into the mixing bowl. :) Isn't she adorable in her little apron?

Spring has Sprung!

Can't believe it's already the first week of May! In our area, Spring has finally sprung, the snow is *almost* all gone (just a few bits and pieces here and there from the huge snowbanks we had), and the days are warming up nicely, where we can be outside without a jacket in the afternoons. We are enjoying the glorious sunshine and just waiting on the hot weather to come once the north winds turn away from us again.

All this while, Kaylee has been growing and learning at leaps and bounds! I just finally barely got her into 24 month/2T in mid-February, and just last week she took a jump into size 3! She had a big growth spurt and all her pants and shirts were too short again! Also her feet jumped into a size 7! It's really amazing to watch children grow. It happens way too fast.

Anyway, we've again had some fun times and taken lots of pictures of Kaylee, so onto the picture and movie goodness!

In April, we were thrilled to visit Murray's Sunshine Sugary with Kaylee's friend Hailey. Murray is Hailey's Papa. We enjoyed beautiful weather, a yummy lunch, collected sap from the trees, rode around in the groomer, and played in the snow. It was a fabulous day!

One morning, we went in to wake her early and

discovered she took everything off to sleep!

A few weeks ago, we went for a road trip adventure with friends Christine and Hailey to Portland! We stopped in Bangor, Freeport, and Augusta before coming home again. We had a great time! We did a LOT of shopping, played in the lawn chairs at L. L. Bean, had some yummy food, napped in the car a few times, and played with Hailey a lot.

This past weekend, Kaylee and Mommy went on a day trip to Fredericton with Nana to meet up with Hailey and Christine again. We took the girls to Kingswood, which is an indoor entertainment complex with a toddler area and children's climber/slides structure. After, we had lunch and went swimming at the Fredericton Indoor Pool which has a nice big warm pool. Kaylee had such a wonderful time playing with Hailey again and was so excited when we met up with them. She slept most of the way home, exhausted after playing all day.

It's FINALLY March! That means Kaylee's half-birthday (she's two and a half now!), spring, sunshine, warmth, melting snow, slush, mud, and longer days ahead! We are so excited to finally see the beginning of the end of winter!

It's been a pretty busy month and a half for us! We had lots of playing outside, a big road trip, lots of learning and talking and new words and experiences, and lots of fun, too!

Here are some of Kaylee's latest adventures...

She loves to dress up in anything she can find. We still have her hats and mittens from last year, and even though the hat is a little on the small side, she adores it and likes to wear it sometimes while she's playing or watching TV. She also tries on our tshirts, sweaters, shoes, and anything. One day she was obsessed with her flip flops and even wore them to bed for her nap. They were still firmly planted on her feet when she woke up.

Kaylee has a huge box of books in the guest room. These are the story books with paper pages, which I have kept out of reach until now, as she went through a mad paper tearing phase. The books are still in a box waiting for me to put together her IKEA cubby set. When she is wandering around looking for something to do, sometimes she goes in the guest room and looks through her books. Sometimes she can't get close enough to the books and climbs right into the box with them.

Kaylee also LOVES to play with water. In the tub, the bathroom sink, the kitchen sink, water fountains, etc. Usually she makes a bit of a mess, but she has so much fun, and it's just water, after all. She has just started pouring water over from one cup into another, and she likes to "wash dishes" a little, also.

This next group of photos was taken during our big road trip. Kaylee's Aunt Courtney got married to Uncle Chris in Florida, and we drove down to be at the wedding. We took our time traveling, enjoying visits with several friends along the way, meeting some of our friends' children for the first time! Kaylee enjoyed playing with all the kids along the way, exploring lots of shopping malls (great way to run off some steam!) and hotels, and seeing lots of new sights from the car windows. She's a great traveler - between the toys and books, movies, talking and reciting the alphabet and numbers, and the stops to stretch our legs, she settled right into the routine of long driving days and did really well!

We enjoyed very good weather for most of the duration of our trip, and when we got home, it was cold and stormy for a couple weeks, so we mostly stayed in, only venturing outside for necessities. We started climbing the living room gate, we snuggled on the couch together and watched movies, we tried some new foods, started climbing on some new tables from IKEA, had some baths and bubbles and dressed all warm in jammies and a bath robe, and discovered that somewhere along the way, we had another growth spurt and made a bunch of clothes too short in the arms and legs again, as well as gaining another size in shoes! It was a very busy month!

Kaylee has a Fisher Price Barnyard that makes noises when you open doors and touch surfaces. It has a sloped roof on it. She also has a little Pinocchio doll that she's a little obsessed with, if you touch his nose, it talks, mostly saying, "I'll NEVER become a real boy..." On a side note, when she is in a mall play place or at a McDonald's play place or even outside at a park, she LOVES LOVES LOVES to slide down the slides. The bigger, the better. Somehow, she concocted this situation in her mind where Pinocchio climbs into the hayloft, escapes out the side window, and slides down the roof. Saying "WHEEEE!" at the end, just like Kaylee does. And by the way, she is absolutely hilarious to watch sliding in the mall play places. She is conditioned to yell "WHEEEE!" at the top of her lungs when she slides down and she is so excited and the other kids sometimes don't know what to make of her. They either run the other way because she is so loud and boisterous about it, or they form a little "WHEEEE!" flash mob and they all start doing it. Either way, it's pretty entertaining to watch. Sliding!

Today's weather was overcast and mild, and we had a few inches of snow overnight. Ian took Kaylee outside for her first sliding adventure on our lawn - we have a small hill on the side of the apartment building that flows down onto the next lot (eg. our grassy field where we have campfires!).

As you can clearly tell, Kaylee LOVES being outside, and she loves sliding!

Potty Training!

So excited!

Today, Kaylee peed on the potty for the very first time!

Lately, she has been trying to (and successful at it) remove her diaper, mostly if it was full.

We certainly don't blame her.

I first tried sitting her on the potty a while back and she was completely uninterested.

Lately, I have been taking her into the bathroom with me when I go, so she can understand the mechanics of it.

Today, she ripped her diaper off and we had a bit of a mess to contend with. So we told her that if she wants to take her diaper off, she needs to sit on the potty. Tonight, I've done it twice (put her on the potty after removing her diaper) and the second time she sat down, she peed! Yay!

I made a really big deal out of it, changed her into a pull up instead of a diaper - the pull ups are pink and have princesses on them... and I took out two packs of new undies for Kaylee and showed them to her. She was livid that I wouldn't put them on her right away, but I told her that they were for when she used the potty all the time. Then I used clothes pins to hang them all up on the curtain on display so she can see them all the time.

So we'll see how this goes. I need her to communicate with us for this to be successful though. :) But I am hoping...

We hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and is eagerly anticipating the joys and blessings to come in the New Year in 2011!

It's been a long time between updates here. It's shocking how fast and busy the pace of life can get.

And with this next set of pictures, we come back to the present. :) Kaylee has all sorts of hilarious expressions that she usually saves just for us, sometimes for people in authority (like doctors and homeland security agents), but occasionally we capture them in the camera too.

We still haven't cut Kaylee's hair yet, and the fine baby hair ends like to knit themselves together at night and leave a big snarly mess to comb out in the morning (with the help of a little kids' spray in/leave in conditioner). On this particular morning, we made her sit through putting in TWO ponytails in back and she made quite a face and yelled at us when we were done.

A month ago, while Daddy was away on a business trip, Mommy got frisky and decided to paint the living room. She started it near Kaylee's bedtime, doing the taping and wall prep, and painted the first coat while Kaylee was sleeping. The next morning, while a second coat went on, Kaylee played in her room. And proceed to empty her entire dresser onto the bedroom floor. Which was great fun, and extremely messy! But entirely hilarious. Oh, if only you all could have seen the pure joy on Kaylee's face as she carefully and deliberately flung each and every item of clothing across the room, higher and farther than the last... :)

Another development over the last couple of months is that Kaylee no longer regularly takes an afternoon nap (morning naps were given up shortly after her first birthday). She still needs a little more rest than getting up at 7am and going all day gives her though, and she has started occasionally climbing up onto the loveseat to take a nap. She also curls up randomly on the floor. So cute!

We all went through a big round of sickness in November. First it started with Kaylee getting a head cold (then Mommy got it - BAD, and Daddy got it too - not too bad)... and once we were all over that, Kaylee got the stomach flu, then Mommy, and then Daddy. November was a rough month with lots of furniture and rug cleaning and laundry. We had a day where Kaylee just wanted to lay around (very unusual for her!) and cuddle up on Mommy when she wasn't feeling well... And Mommy got the worst cold and was sick for two weeks and totally out of commission for about 2-3 days!

Mommy was a soft place to sleep today.

On another note, we have a favorite thrift store in Caribou. It's called Catholic Charities, and all their proceeds go to support the local food bank. They get a super super deal on the goods they purchase for the food bank, their food dollars go about four times farther with their suppliers, so it's a really great cause. Anyhow, all the locals think very highly of them and they usually have little treasures buried here and there in the store. Recently when I was there, I ran across this little gem: an original Kenner brand Strawberry Shortcake figurine storage album full of figurines. They looked almost new, and they ALL STILL SMELLED! I brought it home and cleaned it up, and Kaylee loves them and plays with them almost every day. She has a couple of the new style Strawberry Shortcake figurines she got in a couple Happy Meals recently to add to the set.

Also we got our first snow that stayed, and Kaylee got to get dressed up and go outside to play lots in the last month. Kaylee loves the snow, and loves playing outside with Daddy. :) We got a donut style tube to slide with recently but haven't had a chance to check it out yet, since we had a complete thaw and almost had a green Christmas this year. We had a blizzard this past week, but there was so much wind, there are bare patches everywhere. We'll hopefully get a few more inches of snow to fill in the rough patches soon and be able to go sliding.

This year for Halloween, Kaylee received a couple of adorable outfits from the Disney Store from Aunt J and family in Florida. She dressed up as Mickey Mouse for Halloween this year, and even though it's not Halloween any more, she still has all her dress up stuff available to play with whenever she likes. This is the first time she had her Nemo costume on... one night we dressed her in it to be silly and she had a great time.

One other fun place Kaylee loves to go is the McDonald's restaurant in Grand Falls, NB. They have a HUGE two-storey play place there, tubes and slides and other fun stuff, and she LOVES to climb around and slide and play with the other kids there. She's always in a good mood while there, full of smiles and laughter. Here's a few shots from a recent trip there...

One day when Kaylee put herself down for a nap in the living room, she had her hands clasped together. It was so cute, we had to take pictures. :)

Our friend Kelly has the sweetest dog, Miss Molly, and Molly and Kaylee get along really well together. One evening when they were visiting, Kaylee decided to feed Molly some Cheerios. Molly was pretty patient with the whole process, and we got a cute picture...

This year I set Kaylee's very own tree up in the living room. Last year she had a small one in her bedroom on top of the large dresser. I made it Kaylee-safe as far as ornaments go, it was full of pink plastic Christmas balls, pink plastic candy ornaments, Pooh ornaments, Mr. Man and Little Miss ornaments, Disney princess balls, Disney fairies ornaments, and Sesame Street ornaments. She LOVES it, and almost all the ornaments are off it now... I got sick of redecorating it every day, so I just started collecting them and telling Kaylee her tree was going to be naked soon if she didn't leave it alone. :)

We also got busy with some Christmas baking this year. We wanted some fun stuff, so made my grandmother's gingerbread cutout cookies recipe and decorated with royal icing and mini M&M's.

Kaylee had one gift from Aunt J and family in FL that said to open as soon as it arrived. When she opened it, she found an Advent calendar and a Fisher Price Little People Nativity. :) She loves the Nativity and if you push down on the button on top of the creche where the angel is supposed to sit, it plays "Away in a Manger."

Christmas morning was spent at home in Limestone. Nana and Papa came over early to discover Santa had left Christmas stockings for everyone, and we all opened them before breakfast, which Miss Kelly came up to enjoy with us. Kaylee started opening her gifts and it took a while to get through them because she kept playing with the paper or the box. :) It was a lot of fun...

Later on Christmas Day, we all headed over to Plaster Rock to visit Uncle Jeremy and see all the cousins. We had a beautiful Christmas Turkey Dinner there, and visited with Grammie and Grampy Rioux, cousins Shannon, Emma, David, and Jacob, and played some games and just had a good time together!

However, we know she CAN talk, she just hasn't decided to actually articulate it yet. This has been a busy couple months for Kaylee... she has been growing and learning new skills by leaps and bounds! She had a checkup last week and she is now 35 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. Her weight is finally in the 50th percentile. It's been a challenge finding pants that fit her in length without falling down off her tiny little waist. Her hair is also getting pretty long and I'm going to have to get it cut soon. She has to wear it up or it hangs in her face.

Kaylee still loves to get in the tub and play with her toys. She has foam alphabet and number cutouts that stick to the tub, and now that she has been watching Sesame Street so much, she has learned a lot of her letters. I noticed the other day that as they were reciting the letters on the show, she was saying the letter before the TV said it. That's pretty exciting!

Kaylee celebrated her second birthday on September 5. It was a very windy day here in Limestone, a little chilly. We had a barbecue at Michaud Park here in town. We had a hard time lighting the grill, and the wind kept blowing our stuff around. We even had a bowl of chips blow off the table! It was a nice little get together, but after finishing lunch, we didn't linger too long in the wind and cool temps. I made a chocolate sunflower cake for her birthday.

More and more, Kaylee is starting to lay around on the furniture like a miniature adult. Sometimes the positions she comes up with are pretty cute. I saw her watching TV with her feet on the wall one day...

Kaylee has this little routine she likes to do if/when my bathroom door is left open when she's roaming around. She likes to go into my bathroom, climb up on the stool and turn on the light... then she'll sometimes run the water for a while.. but she always closes the toilet lid, and climbs up to get the lip gloss and put it on. It's hilarious to watch her. We have a movie of it, too, just to remember how cute she was when she is older. :)

It's been another busy month. We've all been enjoying summer... Kaylee and Daddy have special play time at the park several days a week, Kaylee and Mama get in the car and go do fun stuff and errands... all of us go on day trips and plane trips, and it's just good to spend time together!

So to start off the new stream of photos....

We also got Kaylee a tricycle to try this summer. She's not honestly that interested in it right now, but she isn't tall enough to pedal it. We'll let her play on it in the basement this winter and try again next spring. It's a Fisher Price Barbie tricycle and I got a super duper deal on it at Walmart.com, if anyone's looking for something like this. In this picture, Kaylee is yelling at me because she wants to get off and run away and I wanted her to stay put long enough for a picture. :)

Aaaaaaagggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

One day, we managed to convince Daddy to come to town with us to run a couple errands, and we ended up at Burger Boy for lunch together as a family. We have been introducing Kaylee to eating in booths and chairs when we go to some places, as she's starting to get too tall for the high chairs. Most of the time, if she's genuinely hungry, it works out OK and we all get to eat. :)

As we mentioned in the last update, Kaylee learned how to climb out of her Pack & Play the first night we went camping, which also meant she could technically get out of her crib also, even though she had not done so. We ended up getting her a toddler bed so we could stop worrying about her falling out of the crib and hurting herself. Fortunately, you can reuse the crib mattress with most toddler bed frames, and Kaylee had a really great mattress. Which means we can also reuse the bedding (crib sheets) and put off buying linens for her for a while. Again, great deal found at Walmart.com.

Of course, now that Kaylee is in a toddler bed and not her crib, she sometimes goes on naptime adventures. One of which is she loves to empty out her dresser. We're trying to break her of this habit, and it actually hasn't happened for a while... She usually just stays in bed and yells progressively louder until we come and get her. TODAY she got out of bed and grabbed the newly opened box of tissues and the newly opened package of baby wipes and took them into bed with her and took every last tissue and wipe out of their containers. We found her in bed with a mountain of baby wipes wadded under her like a pillow, and a mountain of tissues surrounding her head. Fortunately for us, she didn't shred the tissues, as is her normal fun time tissue activity. It was kinda funny, really.

We took an impulsive trip to Florida in early August to spend some time with our best friends, who we miss so much, and who just lost a loved one. We were so excited to hang out with Aunt Courtney and Uncle Chris also, before coming home again. It was HOT in FL, but the beach was so beautiful. We had a ton of rainy weather while we were down, so we only got in a couple beach trips.

Kaylee LOVES music, and especially loves tickling the ivories. Mimi has a gorgeous piano and Kaylee can play for almost an hour at a time, and she's not banging away very hard, just plunking around on the keys. It's cute!

So tired! Been a busy summer!

Another adventure we had this month was a day trip to Dipper Harbor, NB. This is only a couple miles up the road from New River Beach, NB where we went on our camping trip last month. We travelled to Dipper Harbor to visit our friends Matthew and Darlla and their family. It was a gorgeous sunshiny warm day, and we had a delicious picnic on the beach and shared great conversation, great food, and good fellowship. We even made some new friends!

The beach we were at was a pebble beach. It was so pretty... we couldn't help ourselves and we took a few pebbles home with us to remember that day.

SOOOOOO TIRED!!!!

We've been enjoying the bounty of our very generous neighbor's garden this month. Corn on the cob is one of our big favorites this year, along with tomatoes and cucumbers. We've also had peas, stringbeans, broccoli, and potatoes. Kaylee got to enjoy her first corn on the cob this year though... :) She figured it out pretty quick.

And last, but not least, we still have campfires. We have been pretty busy much of the summer and not home to have campfires, but now that the evenings are cooling off, we want to enjoy the fire pit again. We tore down the old brick fire pit that was falling in, and set up a new one with a fire ring made out of a truck rim. It works really well!

A couple nights ago we took some hot dogs and drinks and the fixings for S'mores down and had a campfire. Kaylee loves to play outside while we do this, and this evening was no exception. Kelly and Molly even joined in on the fun, and these pictures were taken by our dear friend Kelly.

Camping in New River Beach, NB... The very first evening, Kaylee demonstrated her proficiency at climbing out of the pack and play. That definitely made things a little interesting... so we kept her up every night with us, as we sat by the campfire. She fell asleep on our laps and in our arms, and then it was safe to put her to bed. Truth be told, she could totally climb out of her crib also, but I think that she's intimidated by it's height. Regardless, we ordered her a toddler bed which will arrive later this week and we'll start a new bedtime adventure.

The fog was so thick and heavy - we couldn't see where the water was off on the beach - we could only hear the waves crashing onto the shore as the tide moved in. Ian took Kaylee out to see the water come in, and she stood there, completely mesmerized, for about 7 minutes!

The next day, the sun came out and burned off all the cold and fog. We took Kaylee to the playground at the park and got some great shots of her demonstrating her mad play structure climbing skillz! We call this series, "Kaylee loves to go down the slide!"

Later that day, we took a little drive exploring the coastal towns, ending up in St. Andrews and just wandering around for a little while before making our way back to the campground...

And one more movie... we were driving in the car to Saint John to pick up a few things we needed, and Daddy recorded Kaylee for a few minutes. Watch all the way to the end, when you'll be rewarded with a great smile! (movie)

Another SUPER DUPER picture post! (and movies too!)

May was a very busy month for us! We did lots of traveling, and were away from home a lot of this month. For the first two weeks of May, we were in Fredericton at Aunt Joanne and Uncle Ivan's staying with the furry sweeties while they traveled to warmer tropical places. It was a great time of visiting friends and Kaylee got to see lots of other kids, and do lots of fun things.

For starters, we had a few visits with Christine and Hailey. We went swimming in the big warm pool, went out for lunch, went shopping, and spent time at the park, too. The babies would get exhausted and occasionally napped in their strollers... like that one day at Walmart, right Chris? :)

Anyhow, both mommies love to take lots of photos, so here are a BUNCH from one of our super fun days...

On this day, after swimming and lunch, where Kaylee impressively ate a hamburger and some oranges, we went to Moxon's Country Pumpkin in Maugerville. They have preserves, baked goods, and a small petting zoo and play area for kids. Kaylee wasn't too thrilled about the swings yet, she needed to get used to them. Hailey giggled and had a big grin on her face most of the time, though.

After loading up on fresh rolls and yummy cookies, we all went back into Fredericton and visited Wilmot park for the purpose of cuteness. It was an overcast day and the colors of the tulips and the girls' clothing and accessories really stood out against the background... enjoy some of the favorites of the pics we snapped. There were about 400 photos, so I only chose a very few of my favorites... lots of great pics of Hailey too, but I don't want to publish too many, because her mommy puts lots of pics online too. We don't want to bring the internet down because of too much cuteness... :)

So later in the month, we took a little long weekend trip for Daddy's birthday. We decided to go to Boston and New Hampshire, and even got Kaylee's Florida Grandmother to come to Boston and meet us for a few days of fun in the sun!

On the way, we met up with some great friends from Caribou who now live downstate, Mike and Carla! It was so nice to see them again and catch up a little on their busy grandchildren-filled lives. :)

Then on to Peabody, MA where we stayed for the first couple days... and Kaylee learned a few new skillz while we were there. Like how to open lever-style doorknobs. Awesome!

The next day we picked up Grandmommy Alicia in Boston and left the car there and took public transportation to see some of the Boston area. We ended up in Cambridge. First we toured Harvard Square, Harvard's beautiful campus, and went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History. They have a fabulous collection and we'd like to go back and spend more time there. They have a very impressive mineral collection that was really beautiful to view, as well as a huge botany collection and preserved animals/wildlife. What a gem this museum was.

Harvard had just had some graduation exercises so the campus was busy with people moving out of residences, campus staff moving chairs and tents around, and just a large number of people lazily milling around, enjoying the beauty of the grounds.

The next day, we had another trip into Boston, where we did a bunch of sight-seeing. Tons and tons of amazing pics, but this is a blog about Kaylee, not Boston. :) So here's a pic of Kaylee, with her finger shoved up the donkey's nose. Not sure if this means she's a future Republican or what... This donkey statue is located in the courtyard of Old City Hall in Boston.

After exploring Boston for a couple days, we took a little road trip to the North Conway, NH area. After finding lunch on the road, our first big activity was traveling up to the summit of Mount Washington on the Auto Road. Kaylee had to spend quite a while in the car that day, but she kept pretty good spirits most of the time...

Kaylee was so tired she went right to sleep that night.

Some down time the next day while Daddy's playing some video games at Fun Spot in Laconia, NH:

It took her a couple months before she
decided she liked going in the swings....

But now she really does love it!

Later that evening, Kaylee took her first ride on a Carousel at the mall in Manchester, NH.

We ended this evening with a little

The next day was such a long day for Kaylee, too. We left Manchester, NH and drove her grandmother back to Logan Airport in Boston, then left after lunch from there to drive the long drive back home. We took a break in Bangor for a bit of running around at Target and some supper before getting back on the road.

So, back home again. Still mastering self-feeding...

Super Duper Picture Post!

So we've been collecting lots of cute pictures while watching our daughter grow and learn over the last month... Kaylee is so much fun and we are so blessed to be her parents and to watch her learn and grow. We can't believe how quickly it happens.

Kaylee has taken a big interest in all her books recently. Most of the time she even turns them the correct way by herself. She likes to get all the books of a series and bring them to the big chair and climb up and look at them. Sometimes when we're in there, she'll bring them to our lap and climb up and want to look at them.

And it is true that kids will play with anything... Kaylee likes to drag these canisters around with her. They're empty, but still. :)

I have a few photo series that I'd like to review here. Sometimes an activity is cute enough that it requires a LOT of pictures. I like to call this gallery, "Daddy tries to put a shirt on Kaylee."

Later that evening, Kaylee showed us a new way to watch TV. She likes to lay on the floor right in front of it. :) With all her friends, of course.

Another favorite activity is the climbing up and viewing the situation outside of the window. She was smart enough to figure out she only needed to be a *little bit* taller to see what was outside.

In fact, I bought some barrettes and baby hair elastics this past week, as her bangs are in her face and her hair is starting to go down her back!

Most of all, however, Kaylee absolutely *LOVES* to be outside. Everything outside is a new discovery to her. She loves to run around and pick up sticks, touch the grass, leaves, and trees, and just look at EVERYTHING. It's so neat to see her exploring her surroundings and to remember that for her, all of these experiences she's having are new experiences. I have to remember how much Ian and I were so amazed when we went snorkeling for the first time last year, and remember that Kaylee gets to experience that every day with something.

So this next series is called, "Exploring in the yard!"

Now if we can't be outside, sometimes it's ok to just LOOK outside. Here she is, proud of herself for figuring out that she can get tall enough to see out the window. She seems so impressed when she does this, almost every single day. So cute...

Easter Sunday. It was hard to get her to stand still for a photo in her cute little dress. It will fit her through the summer though, so we'll get more pictures.

After lunch and a nap, we got changed and went outside. We enjoyed gorgeous sunny warm weather on the patio at Mom and Dad's in New Denmark. Kaylee again loved exploring. She has grown so fast that this 18 month outfit is too short in the sleeves and legs. She was 33 inches tall at her 4/9/2010 checkup.

And she loves to play in her bedroom. We've been changing a few things around this week to get some more of her toys in there and out of the living room. She loves to play with her mittens, and has them all around her neck in these pictures...

The rest are just an assortment of some of the cute shots I got that day. You can see her confidence in walking around has really improved.. in fact, she can run faster than we can keep up with her now. It's pretty funny how excited she gets running away from us...
